Maha Ashtami Vrat will be observed by devotees on April 16. According to him, Goddess Durga killed the demons Chand and Mund on this day, signifying the victory of good over evil. It is believed that all enemies are destroyed if Goddess Durga is worshiped following proper rituals. Ashtami Tithi will begin on April 15 at 11:12 pm and will last until April 16 at 1:46 pm. However, according to Udaya Tithi, Ashtami Tithi Vrat will be observed on 16th April only. . He requested the devotees to perform Ashtami puja before noon.
Two auspicious yogas are formed on the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Durga Ashtami. One is Dhriti Yoga and the other is Shool Yoga. It is convenient for the devotees to worship the Goddess in these two yogas. Kanya Puja is also one of the most important rituals on Durga Ashtami day. Generally nine girls between three to eight years are worshiped on this day. By doing this the Goddess will be pleased and she will bless the devotees throughout the year. The auspicious time to worship Kanya on Ashtami Tithi is 07:21 am to 11:05 am. The ritual also includes feeding these little girls.
According to astrology, while worshiping Mahagauri on Chaitra Durga Ashtami, devotees should wear red clothes and light a ghee lamp. Pandit Nandkishore Mudgal asked the devotees to offer coconut or sweets made of coconut. On this day, make sure to offer hibiscus flowers to Goddess Gauri. Red chunri and sixteen ornaments are offered to the goddess on this day. You can further please the goddess by offering sandalwood, Akshat, Rs 1 coin, cloves and camphor wrapped in a red cloth.
