To commemorate the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag and address the nation with a speech from the Red Fort in New Delhi. PM Modi will hoist the national flag at 7:30 am, followed by an address to the nation. PM Modi will deliver his eleventh consecutive speech on August 15. The national channels of All India Radio will telecast the entire ceremony live in English with commentary in Hindi. Throughout the day, All India Radio will broadcast various patriotic and cultural programmes. Regional Doordarshan and Akashvani stations in some states will telecast local Independence Day programmes. At the end of the speech, the cadets of the National Cadet Corps sing the national anthem, and boys and girls NCC cadets (Army, Navy and Air Force) from various schools across the country participate in this celebration of patriotic fervor. Last year, Doordarshan's live coverage of the Independence Day celebrations included around 40 camera perspectives of Prime Minister Modi hoisting the tricolor at the Red Fort.
