YRF Entertainment's Bold Move Against Misconduct

YRF Entertainment has decided to remove cinematographer Pratik Shah's name from the credits of its upcoming streaming series, Akka, following serious allegations of inappropriate behavior from several women. This action reflects the growing demand for accountability in the entertainment industry, especially after recent controversies involving other industry figures.

As reported by THR India, YRF's decision to exclude Shah's credit comes after he faced accusations of misconduct last June. The series, which stars Keerthy Suresh, Radhika Apte, and Tanvi Azmi, is part of YRF's streaming division.

A spokesperson for YRF confirmed that Shah's name would not appear in the final credits. They noted that while Shah had been part of the project since its inception and had fulfilled his contractual obligations, the studio chose to omit his credit due to the ongoing controversy.

Concerns about Shah's presence on set were raised by crew members, with one anonymous source questioning the industry's pace in allowing reintegration of individuals facing such allegations.

The allegations against Shah became public last year when filmmaker Abhinav Singh described him as 'highly manipulative' and 'emotionally abusive,' citing testimonies from various women. Reports also indicated that Shah was removed from the Sourav Ganguly biopic following the backlash.

Additionally, it has come to light that Shah faced complaints in the past, including an incident where a young cinematographer approached a senior member of the Indian Women Cinematographers’ Collective (IWCC) with allegations of inappropriate behavior. Sources revealed that Shah had issued an apology at that time.

This development follows the recent news of a formal complaint against production designer Saini S Johray, leading to his removal from film credits after an internal investigation found him guilty of inappropriate conduct.
