During a recent visit to Chamba district, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was deeply touched by the emotional appeal of a young schoolgirl. The girl, Vanshika Thakur, tearfully requested that her mother be transferred closer to home after enduring years of separation.
For the past three years, Vanshika has been living apart from her mother, JBT teacher Naro, who has been stationed at a school in Nerwa, Shimla district. The distance of approximately 700 kilometers has forced the family to live separately, leading to significant emotional strain.
Vanshika recounted her experience to the Chief Minister, explaining that she lived with her mother until Class IV. Upon entering Class V, she had to enroll in a local school. Currently, she is preparing for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance examination, and her mother's absence has made her life increasingly difficult.
Additionally, the issue of a teacher shortage at Chandru School was brought up during the discussion. It was noted that although five teaching positions were filled last year, none of the selected candidates accepted the roles, leaving several vacancies that hinder academic progress.
Moved by Vanshika's heartfelt request, Chief Minister Sukhu promised to take necessary actions to ensure that her mother is posted at a school closer to their home within the constituency.
This assurance has rekindled hope for the family, suggesting that their three-year separation may soon come to an end.
