Anne Hathaway recently shared her regret about not being able to participate in the popular series Hot Ones, citing medical advice as the reason for her decision. The actress, who stars alongside Dakota Johnson in the film Verity, expressed her enthusiasm for taking on the show's notorious spicy wing challenge as part of her promotional activities.
In a recent episode of the Talk of the Townsends podcast, Hathaway mentioned that the acclaimed YouTube series, hosted by Sean Evans, even makes a cameo in her new film. This connection made her feel that joining the challenge would have been a perfect promotional opportunity. She revealed that she had actually eaten the first three wings during the filming of Verity before switching to prop wings for the rest of the scene.
Health Considerations and Future Projects
Hathaway explained that her plans to join the show were ultimately hindered by her pregnancy. Her doctor advised against participating in the high-stakes challenge, cautioning that the physical exertion could lead to early labor. Although she felt disappointed about missing out on the experience, she remains optimistic about the possibility of appearing on the show next year.
In addition to discussing Hot Ones, Hathaway talked about her upcoming projects. In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, she humorously mentioned her intention to take a break from the limelight after Verity's release on October 2. She plans to focus on her family after welcoming her third child with husband Adam Shulman, joking that she would effectively disappear from public life for a while.
Despite her plans for a temporary retreat, Hathaway confirmed that she is set to return to work in March 2027. Her next significant project will be a collaboration with Tom Cruise in the sequel to Days of Thunder. Verity will be her fifth and final film release in 2026, following a busy year that included roles in Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, and The End of Oak Street.
