Chennai: The legendary Rajinikanth provided fans with a thrilling update regarding his much-anticipated film Jailer 2, directed by the talented Nelson Dilipkumar, during a recent interaction at the airport.
He confirmed that Jailer 2 is nearing completion, stating, "The film is in its finishing stage. The production team will soon announce the release date."
When asked about his thoughts on the upcoming elections, Rajinikanth simply smiled, choosing not to comment.
Regarding his collaboration with Kamal Haasan, he mentioned, "That project will kick off in August."
Fans are eagerly awaiting Jailer 2 for various reasons, particularly because it promises to deliver the same level of action and excitement as its predecessor, which was a massive success, grossing around 650 crores globally.
Jailer 1 received positive reviews and had a remarkable opening, with its overseas distributor, Ayngaran International, reporting an impressive 33 crores on its first day, marking a record for Rajinikanth.
Insiders suggest that Jailer 2 is shaping up to be just as impressive as the first installment.
Notably, Rajinikanth celebrated his 75th birthday on the set of Jailer 2 last year.
Filming for the sequel began in Chennai, with Sun Pictures announcing the start of production on March 10 of the previous year.
The excitement surrounding the film intensified after Sun Pictures released a captivating teaser that combined humor and thrill.
Actress Ramya Krishnan also shared her experience on the first day of shooting for Jailer 2 in Attapaadi, Kerala, reminiscing about her 26 years since Padayappa.
In the film, she portrays Vijaya Pandian, the wife of Rajinikanth's character, Muthuvel Pandian.
Additionally, actress Mirnaa, who plays Swetha Pandian, Rajinikanth's daughter-in-law, is expected to have a significant role in the sequel. The film also features Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi.
Anirudh, who composed the music for the first film, is returning to score the sequel as well.
