Mumbai: The release date for the much-anticipated sequel, Tumbbad 2, has been officially set for December 3, 2027. The film's creators announced this exciting news via their Instagram account, sharing a captivating poster alongside the date.
In their post, they stated, “A sinful past, an ominous future. The hunger rises, the legacy of greed continues… Mark your calendars #Tumbbad2 arrives on 3. 12. 2027.”
This announcement comes on the heels of the successful re-release of the original Tumbbad in 2024, which reignited interest in the film and performed impressively at the box office.

Discussing the sequel, producer and actor Sohum Shah expressed, “Tumbbad holds a special place in my heart, and with Tumbbad 2, we aim to expand that universe in a way that feels richer and more profound. We are enhancing the mythology and atmosphere that resonated with viewers while delving into new dimensions of the narrative. It will maintain its core essence but also introduce fresh elements.”
Sohum Shah's original film, Tumbbad, carved a unique niche for folklore horror in Indian cinema, gaining popularity over time. With Tumbbad 2, the team is set to broaden the story and scale while preserving the distinctive tone that made the first film memorable.
Director Adesh Prasad remarked, “Continuing this story has been both thrilling and challenging, particularly given the strong identity of the first film. Our goal has been to keep that spirit alive while advancing the narrative and visual experience. We’re striving to create something that feels connected to the original yet offers audiences a new and immersive journey.”
Tumbbad 2 is helmed by Adesh Prasad and produced by Sohum Shah under his production company, Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios. The film will be distributed by Pen Marudhar.
