What to Expect from the Groundbreaking Cinematic Franchise 'The Chronicles of Devi'?
A Historic Gathering in Athens
On April 25, a significant assembly of ten Jagadgurus and Acharyas from various spiritual traditions took place in Athens, where they signed the Athens Declaration. This event marked the official launch of 'The Chronicles of Devi,' a new cinematic venture designed to present India's sacred histories to an international audience. This unique summit united prominent spiritual figures from Shaiva, Advaita, Dvaita, Shakta, Swaminarayan, Jain, Buddhist, Sikh, and Yoga backgrounds, representing a notable contemporary congregation of dharmic leaders outside India. The event concluded with a ceremonial lighting of a sacred lamp and the announcement of 'The Chronicles of Devi: Chapter 1 - Mahishasura,' the inaugural film in what is expected to be an eight-part series.
The Athens Declaration and Its Significance
The Athens Declaration, endorsed by the attending leaders, underscores the necessity of safeguarding sacred cultural traditions and fostering collaboration among various knowledge systems across civilizations. It advocates for the responsible sharing of sacred histories with future generations through modern media and cultural platforms. This project has been developed in collaboration with the Bharatiya Santa Maha Parishad (BSMP), whose scholars and spiritual leaders have significantly influenced its narrative and visual approach.
Collaboration Across Dharmic Traditions
Shashank Acharya, the Founding Trustee of the Dharmic Renaissance Trust and Coordinator of BSMP, emphasized the unprecedented cooperation among diverse dharmic traditions to support such a monumental cinematic project. He pointed out that the guidance from senior spiritual figures is crucial to ensure that sacred histories are portrayed with authenticity and respect. 'The Chronicles of Devi: Chapter 1 - Mahishasura' draws inspiration from the sacred narratives of Vaishnodevi and various scriptural texts, including the Markandeya Purana and the Devi Mahatmyam.
