What to Expect from Kamal Haasan's Highly Anticipated Film 'Thug Life'?
Exciting Early Screenings for 'Thug Life'
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has approved special early morning screenings for the eagerly awaited film Thug Life, directed by the legendary Mani Ratnam and featuring superstar Kamal Haasan. These screenings are set for Thursday, June 5, the film's release day.
This decision follows a formal request from Raaj Kamal Films International, the production company owned by Kamal Haasan.
According to the official order, the film will have five screenings on its release day, starting with the first show at 9 a.m. and the last one wrapping up by 2 a.m. the following day.
Such special screenings are typically reserved for major films in Tamil Nadu, especially those featuring well-known stars or acclaimed directors.
However, this announcement comes amid controversy surrounding a statement made by Kamal Haasan during the film's audio launch.
The actor-politician's assertion that 'Kannada is born out of Tamil' has ignited significant backlash in Karnataka.
Recently, the Karnataka High Court advised Kamal to apologize, a suggestion he has declined.
In response, he sent a letter to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, clarifying that the uproar over his comments regarding the Kannada language's origins stems from a misunderstanding. He emphasized his stance against any language's dominance over others.
Due to his refusal to apologize, the film's release in Karnataka has been postponed indefinitely.
Despite the surrounding controversy, Thug Life remains one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year.
This project marks a significant reunion for Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after nearly forty years, following their iconic collaboration on Nayakan in 1987, which is regarded as a landmark in Indian cinema.
The film features a stellar cast, including Silambarasan T.R., Trisha, Nasser, Joju George, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sanya Malhotra, and Ali Fazal.
The music for Thug Life has been composed by the Academy Award-winning A.R. Rahman, heightening the anticipation for its release.
Thug Life is a collaborative effort between Raaj Kamal Films International and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, with distribution handled by Red Giant Movies.
With high expectations from both fans and critics, the film's box office performance, especially in Tamil Nadu, will be closely monitored as it premieres tomorrow.
