What to Expect from Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh's Upcoming Film Set for Baisakhi 2026?

Mumbai: The highly anticipated film by director Imtiaz Ali, featuring actor and musician Diljit Dosanjh, is set to hit theaters in April 2026, aligning with the Baisakhi festival.

Described as a 'charming tale of love and longing', this untitled project marks the second partnership between Ali and Dosanjh, following their successful 2024 film, Amar Singh Chamkila.

The cast will also include renowned actors Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari, promising a modern and witty storyline that delves into the intricacies of human relationships.

Imtiaz Ali referenced the famous couplet by poet Momin Khan Momin, ‘Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota’ (‘You are with me, however, when there is no one else’), expressing his desire to create a 'touching cinematic experience' with this film.

He posed thought-provoking questions about love and belonging, stating, 'Can love truly be lost? Can a home be taken from someone's heart? This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also of a country.'

Ali encouraged audiences to support their journey, hoping to deliver a heartfelt cinematic experience in theaters next year.

The film will reunite the iconic trio of Ali, AR Rahman, and Irshad Kamil, known for their unforgettable soundtracks in films like Amar Singh Chamkila, Tamasha, and Rockstar.

As the narrative unfolds, viewers can expect a film that resonates emotionally, music that lingers, and a love story that becomes part of their lives.

Production is scheduled to commence in August this year.

Notably, Ali's previous collaboration with Dosanjh, Amar Singh Chamkila, was also released on Baisakhi in 2024.
