A Cinematic Triumph

The epic film Ramayana: Part One, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, is experiencing remarkable success as it approaches its first Sunday. After a strong showing on Saturday, where it earned around Rs. 68 crore in India, the film is poised for a significant increase in audience turnout. Thanks to the Diwali holiday, it has already amassed a three-day total of approximately Rs. 178.75 crore, including 3D ticket sales.

Saturday's performance was particularly impressive, showcasing a 45 to 50 percent rise in revenue compared to Friday. The Hindi version alone contributed over Rs. 50 crore, while the South-dubbed editions brought in Rs. 17.50 crore, despite facing ticket availability issues in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Bengaluru. In these regions, demand consistently exceeded the number of available showtimes, resulting in a strong overflow for later screenings.

Unprecedented Advance Sales and International Success

Record-Breaking Advance Bookings and Global Reach

As the film enters Sunday, November 8, the excitement is palpable, reflected in its impressive advance ticket sales. The film has sold over 10.86 lakh tickets across 23,077 shows in India, generating a gross of Rs. 34.43 crore from pre-bookings alone. With an average ticket price of Rs. 321, major cities like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Ahmedabad are reporting occupancy rates above 75 percent for afternoon and evening shows.

Industry experts believe that Ramayana: Part One is on track to break records for the highest first-Sunday collections in Hindi cinema. Its performance in Karnataka has been particularly remarkable, with the Kannada version earning Rs. 19 crore in just three days, contributing to a total exceeding Rs. 30 crore in the state. The star power of Yash is credited with this regional success, with expectations that the numbers could double during the upcoming holiday period.

The film's success is not limited to India; it is also making waves internationally. In the UK, it is set to break the record for the highest single-day collection for an Indian film, with estimates ranging from GBP 700,000 to GBP 800,000. Additionally, pre-sales in North America remain robust, and the film is gaining traction in the UAE. Globally, it is projected to achieve a significant single-day collection, potentially surpassing USD 6.5 million. As the industry keeps a close eye on these developments, the question remains whether this momentum will continue into the post-Diwali period, which typically sees a surge in walk-up audiences.
