Dhurandhar Breaks Box Office Records

Mumbai: The film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film ever, with a net collection exceeding Rs 831 crore in India, as announced by the production team on Wednesday.

As of Tuesday, the film's earnings for Day 33 reached Rs 5.70 crore, bringing its total net collection to Rs 831.40 crore, securing its position as the top Hindi film release to date.

The filmmakers expressed their excitement, stating, "History has been rewritten. With Tuesday's collections, 'Dhurandhar' has officially become the highest-earning Hindi film of all time, a monumental achievement that has transformed the landscape of Indian box office success."

Previously, this title was held by the Hindi version of Allu Arjun's blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule, which garnered Rs 830 crore.

Other notable Hindi films in the top earnings list include Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and the horror comedy Stree 2, which earned Rs 643 crore and Rs 627 crore, respectively.

The film's box office performance has shown consistent strength, with Rs 218 crore in its opening week, followed by Rs 261.50 crore in the second week, Rs 189.30 crore in the third week, and Rs 115.70 crore in the fourth week. It also added Rs 35.80 crore over its fifth weekend, maintaining a steady performance during weekdays.

Dhurandhar is an action-packed spy thriller that Aditya Dhar both directed and wrote. Starring Ranveer Singh, the film revolves around covert intelligence operations set against significant geopolitical events, including the Kandahar plane hijacking, the 2001 Parliament Attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

The film, which has sparked mixed reactions from critics and audiences alike, is primarily set in Lyari, Karachi, an area notorious for gang conflicts and violent territorial disputes.

Produced by Dhar and Lokesh Dhar under B62 Studios in collaboration with Jyoti Deshpande's Jio Studios, the film features a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, and Rakesh Bedi.

In a show of camaraderie, Yash Raj Films congratulated the Dhurandhar team on their groundbreaking achievement.

They remarked, "DHURANDHAR is not just a film; it’s a pivotal moment in Indian cinema that will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations to Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios for achieving the status of the highest-grossing Indian film of all time (in a single language)."
