What Led to Sel Pawar's Instagram Exit Amid Controversy?
Escalating Controversy Surrounding Sel Pawar
The situation involving MBBS student Sel Pawar has taken a dramatic turn as she has opted to delete her Instagram account following a wave of online criticism and legal challenges. This uproar began when a segment from comedian Prrenit Morris's stand-up performance went viral, resulting in significant backlash and the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against several parties linked to the incident. The Maharashtra Cyber Police have confirmed that an FIR has been lodged against Sel Pawar, Prrenit Morris, and audience member Himashu Jangra, who became infamous for his remark regarding a 370 rupee biryani. The case was initiated after authorities examined the content related to the controversy.
As per an official announcement from Maharashtra Cyber, the FIR was filed at the Nodal Cyber Police Station under FI number 36 by 2026. The individuals involved are facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those concerning obscenity and public outrage, as well as Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, which addresses the online distribution of offensive material. The investigation is still in progress, and the charges are currently allegations. Following the FIR, all three individuals have been called in for questioning as part of the investigation.
Sel Pawar has been subjected to harsh criticism after a video emerged in which she made comments about measuring male cadavers during anatomy classes, remarks that many social media users found inappropriate. In response to the backlash, she initially released a video apology, admitting her comments were insensitive. However, this did little to alleviate the controversy, leading her to unfollow all accounts on Instagram, remove her profile picture and bio, and eventually delete the apology video. A second public apology was issued, but the debate surrounding her comments continued, with opinions split on the intensity of the backlash.
In light of the ongoing legal matters and public scrutiny, Sel Pawar has made the significant decision to completely delete her Instagram account. Before its removal, her verified account boasted around 240,000 followers, 103 posts, and followed 676 accounts. Screenshots of her profile have been widely shared online. As the investigation unfolds, all eyes are on the legal proceedings and the anticipated statements from those involved. Sel Pawar's exit from Instagram marks a pivotal moment in a controversy that continues to ignite fervent discussions both online and offline.
