What Led to Palash Muchhal's Legal Troubles? A Closer Look at the Controversy
Legal Troubles for Music Composer Palash Muchhal
Music composer and director Palash Muchhal is currently facing legal challenges following a complaint filed in Sangli by Vigyan Prakash Mane, a childhood friend of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and Palash's former fiancée. The complaint alleges that on November 22, 2025, at a toll plaza on the Sangli-Ashta road, Muchhal made derogatory remarks concerning caste. Vigyan, a 34-year-old resident of Shatri Nagar, reported the incident, prompting the police to register a case against Muchhal under the Atrocities Act.
Details of the Allegations Against Palash Muchhal
According to reports from TV9 Marathi, it was revealed that Palash Muchhal had previously contacted Vigyan Mane and received Rs 25 lakh for a film project. After the cancellation of his wedding to Smriti in November 2025, Mane requested the return of his investment. On November 22, 2026, when Mane approached Muchhal to discuss the repayment, a heated argument broke out. During this confrontation, Palash allegedly used offensive language towards Mane. Following this incident, the Sangli city police have initiated a case against him under Section 3(1) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, along with Sections 351(2) and 352. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Vigyan Mane's Perspective on the Incident
In a media statement, Vigyan Mane expressed his trust in the Indian legal system. He mentioned that Palash Muchhal had gained his confidence and secured Rs 25 lakh from him for a film production, promising completion within six months. However, Mane described Muchhal as deceitful, stating, “When I asked for my money back, he avoided the topic. During our confrontation, he used language that I cannot even repeat on camera. His behavior is quite concerning.” The police are actively gathering more information regarding this case.
The Relationship Between Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana
Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana were once in a romantic relationship and were scheduled to marry in Sangli, Smriti's hometown, in November 2025. However, the wedding was abruptly called off for reasons that remain unclear, leading to their public separation on social media.
