Mumbai: On the occasion of Smriti Irani's 50th birthday, actress Ashlesha Sawant took a moment to express her gratitude for the support she received from the veteran star during her early career. In a touching birthday message posted on her social media on March 23, Ashlesha reminisced about her initial days in the industry and the unwavering encouragement she received from Smriti, which she cherishes to this day.

She wrote, “It’s the little things. Your kindness to make someone feel good. To encourage and support as much as you can. To push and build someone to give their best. When I was new to the job, you gave me so much love and were always pushing me to give my best.”

Along with her heartfelt note, Ashlesha shared several selfies with Smriti, showcasing their close friendship. In one image, they are seen beaming together, while another captures them in traditional outfits.

The two actresses first collaborated in 2001 on the iconic series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which became a defining television drama of its era, achieving cult classic status over time.

In the show, Smriti portrayed the lead character Tulsi Virani, while Ashlesha played Tisha, her daughter-in-law. Although Ashlesha's role was brief, it marked a significant milestone in her early career.

Actor Sumeet Sachdev, who played Gautam Virani, was also part of the storyline during that time.

Having known each other for over 25 years, Smriti and Ashlesha are frequently seen enjoying each other's company.

Currently, Smriti Irani remains connected to the legacy of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, appearing in the show's reprise version that premiered in August 2025.
