Washington: Ammy Virk, the renowned Punjabi singer, narrowly avoided injury when a vehicle from his concert convoy was shot at in Abbotsford, Canada, according to local news reports.

The incident occurred shortly after Virk's performance at the Rogers Forum on September 5 in British Columbia.

Reports from Canadian outlets, including Vancouver Sun and Abbotsford News, cited local police regarding the shooting.

Around 11:00 PM on September 5, a vehicle traveling in the 2500 block of McCallum Road came under fire from another vehicle. Sergeant Paul Walker of the Abbotsford Police Department stated that occupants of a dark SUV discharged multiple rounds at the targeted vehicle, although the victims were not disclosed.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.

Following the gunfire, police responded to a report of a vehicle ablaze and discovered an SUV completely engulfed in flames.

The Major Crime Unit of the Abbotsford Police Department is leading the investigation to ascertain the motive behind the shooting and whether the vehicle fire is related.

Initial assessments indicate that the shooting was likely a targeted attack, according to Walker.

Indo-Canadian media outlet The Voice noted that the vehicle involved was part of Virk's concert convoy.

Currently, Virk is engaged in a concert tour across multiple cities in Canada and the United States.

Known for his significant contributions to Punjabi music and cinema, Virk, whose full name is Amninderpal Singh Virk, has starred in films like Angrej, Qismat, and Laung Laachi.

He also made his debut in Hindi cinema with Bhuj: The Pride of India and appeared in films such as '83, 'Bad Newz', and 'Khel Khel Mein'.
