In a recent Instagram live session, Dosanjh seemed unbothered by the abrupt removal, suggesting that the filmmakers had anticipated this scenario and were mentally prepared for it. He expressed his contentment that the film had reached viewers before its withdrawal, stating, "We released it two days ago, and it was expected to be taken down." He highlighted that the film's release was an opportunity to share its narrative, even if only for a short time.
During the live interaction, Dosanjh encouraged fans to download the film, mentioning that many had already taken that step. He fondly recalled seeing families gather to watch the film, sharing a heartwarming video of a family in Rajasthan enjoying it on a projector. He expressed gratitude that the film had made it to the audience despite the hurdles it encountered. "It's okay; we have the film now," he remarked, urging those who hadn't seen it to share it with their friends. He acknowledged the long struggle to get the film released, stating, "We have been fighting for four years, and I am glad the film has reached the people."
Directed by Honey Trehan, "Sutlej" is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film's path to release has been riddled with challenges, initially set for a 2023 launch but delayed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its politically sensitive content and potential viewer impact. The CBFC reportedly requested over 120 cuts, which the filmmakers declined to make. After nearly three years of uncertainty, the film was quietly released on an OTT platform, only to be removed within two days. Nevertheless, Dosanjh believes that the film has already made an impact, which he views as a significant achievement.
