Filming Challenges for Harington and Turner

Kit Harington recently shared insights into the peculiar challenges he encountered while shooting intimate scenes with his former 'Game of Thrones' co-star, Sophie Turner, for the upcoming gothic horror film 'The Dreadful.' The duo, who rose to fame as siblings in the hit HBO series, found themselves in an unexpected scenario as they reunited to play lovers in this new project directed by Natasha Kermani. Although they were thrilled about the script, both actors were surprised by the number of kissing and intimate moments included, which they hadn't anticipated.

In a discussion with fellow 'Game of Thrones' actor Peter Dinklage on Variety's Actors on Actors, Harington expressed his respect for Turner's development as an actress. He openly described the experience of filming the intimate scenes as "gross," stating, "I've known her since childhood. She feels like my younger sister. It was gross but it was fine." He praised Turner’s skills, saying, "She's an incredible actor. We all know that, but she was just a child when she was cast (in GOT), and now she is phenomenal."

Dinklage echoed similar thoughts, reminiscing about their shared experiences on 'Game of Thrones.' He reflected on their scenes as a married couple, saying, "We had so many moments together, especially the Tyrion and Sansa scenes. I would look around and think this is the greatest actress on this f****** show. What she brought to the table was so composed. She was always well-prepared and a joy to work with."

Turner also discussed the awkwardness of their intimate scenes during her appearance on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers.' She mentioned that when the director asked for casting suggestions, Harington was the first person she thought of. "I sent the script to Kit, and he replied, 'Yeah, I'd love to, but this is going to be really f***ing weird, Soph,'" she recalled. After reading the script, she realized the extent of the intimate scenes, leading her to exclaim, "Oh shoot, that's my brother."

Despite their initial discomfort, both actors managed to navigate the filming process. Turner admitted that the experience was just as awkward as they had expected. "So, we tried to put it out of our minds, and then we got on set for the first kissing scene. We were both retching, it was really vile. It was the worst, another really bad moment in my career," she confessed. 'The Dreadful' follows the story of Anne, played by Turner, and her mother-in-law Morwen, portrayed by Marcia Gay Harden, whose secluded lives are disrupted by the return of a mysterious figure from their past, played by Harington.
