The tragic death of Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has prompted the West Bengal government to initiate a CID investigation. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced this decision in response to ongoing demands from the actor's family, colleagues, and the entertainment industry for a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding his passing. Initially classified as an unnatural death, this case has attracted significant public attention in recent months. The CID's involvement is expected to provide a more comprehensive investigation, aiming to clarify the timeline of events and resolve outstanding questions.

Insights from West Bengal's Chief Minister on the Investigation

In a recent administrative meeting held in Digha, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari confirmed the transfer of the investigation into the death of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). This decision came after persistent appeals from the actor's family and the entertainment community for a detailed inquiry. Adhikari instructed the Purba Medinipur district police to initiate the transfer process to the CID, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. He noted that the family had already filed a case, and the incident was initially recorded as an unnatural death.

Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted a separate investigation initiated by the Odisha government, reinforcing the commitment to a comprehensive review of the case. He referenced a recent incident involving another film star's death in Udaipur, which led to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Odisha government. Adhikari justified the CID's involvement by stating, “We want to ensure that such tragic events do not happen again.”

Alongside the CID investigation announcement, the Chief Minister introduced measures to enhance safety along the state's coastline. Addressing concerns about the lack of lifeguards, he stated, “We do not want any recurrence of such a tragic event in the future,” and announced plans to increase the number of lifeguards in Digha and nearby beach areas. The Contai sub-divisional officer has been tasked with overseeing this initiative.

Rahul Banerjee tragically passed away on March 29 while filming the Bengali television series Bholebaba Paar Karega near the Odisha-West Bengal border. His untimely death has raised significant alarm within the Tollywood film community, with many industry members and family members calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
