About the Film Ranabaali
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, who recently tied the knot, are set to appear together in the historical drama Ranabaali. This film marks their third collaboration, following their successful projects Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, known for his work on Taxiwaala, the film also stars Arnold Vosloo, famous for his role in the Mummy series, as the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. Vijay portrays a freedom fighter named Ranabaali, while Rashmika plays his wife Jayamma. Promoted as a pan-Indian film, Ranabaali will be released in various languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, hitting theaters on September 11.
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century India, Ranabaali is inspired by historical events from 1850 to 1900 during a period of severe colonial oppression. The film depicts a genocide in British-occupied India, with estimates of around 100 million lives lost and wealth amounting to approximately 45 trillion dollars taken. The filmmakers have utilized real accounts and previously concealed records to authentically recreate this historical narrative.
