Los Angeles: Renowned Hindi film star Vidyut Jammwal, celebrated for his role in the Commando series, has been cast in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Street Fighter.
As reported by a prominent entertainment news source, the 44-year-old actor will portray the character Dhalsim in this highly anticipated film.
The movie, inspired by the popular Capcom video game franchise, is helmed by Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on Bad Trip and Aardvark.
Joining Jammwal in the cast are notable actors such as David Dastmalchian, who plays the antagonist, along with Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, Orville Peck, and Andrew Schulz.
Originally launched in 1987, the Street Fighter video game series features intense one-on-one combat among martial artists, all orchestrated by the villain M. Bison in a global tournament.
To date, the franchise has sold over 55 million units worldwide.
Jammwal's recent project is Crack: Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa, a sports action film that also stars Amy Jackson, Arjun Rampal, and Nora Fatehi.
Directed by Aditya Datt, this film premiered in theaters on February 23, 2024, and follows the journey of a young man from the slums of Mumbai as he ventures into the world of extreme sports.
