Vidya Balan Aims for Global Recognition

Renowned for her contributions to women-centric cinema in India, Vidya Balan is now aspiring to make her mark internationally. In a recent interview, she shared her ambitions to explore opportunities in Hollywood and the types of roles she hopes to pursue.


During her conversation with a prominent media outlet, the actress, known for her role in 'Dirty Picture', expressed her interest in specific characters, stating, 'I’d love to portray a therapist in a film like Adolescence. That’s currently at the forefront of my mind. Comedy is also something I would enjoy. I was particularly impressed by Kate Winslet's performance in The Regime, and I admire the work of Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon as well.'


Reflecting on her past performances in women-centric films, Vidya highlighted her roles as a single mother in 'Paa', a mathematician in 'Shakuntala Devi', and a housewife turned late-night radio host in 'Tumhari Sulu'. She noted, 'Each of these roles allowed me to explore different facets as an actor. They featured well-developed characters and were backed by strong scripts, making them engaging and entertaining.'


On the professional front, Vidya was recently seen in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' alongside Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. She also starred in the romantic comedy 'Do Aur Do Pyaar', directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, where she shared the screen with Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
