Vicky Kaushal Shares Emotional Journey of Fatherhood
Vicky Kaushal's New Perspective on Life as a Father
Vicky Kaushal has recently embraced fatherhood, welcoming his son Vihaan with wife Katrina Kaif. This new chapter in his life has significantly altered his outlook. After taking six weeks of paternity leave to bond with his family, he found returning to work more challenging than anticipated. In an open discussion about his transition into parenthood, Vicky expressed that he felt an immediate longing for his son upon resuming his professional commitments, revealing that fatherhood has introduced him to a range of emotions he had never encountered before.
Challenges of Returning to Work Post-Baby
During a recent interview with The Nod, Vicky reflected on his emotional struggle when he returned to work after spending time at home with Katrina and their newborn. He candidly shared, "My heart sank. It was hard," as he recounted his first day back on set after his leave.
Despite having spent every day with Vihaan during those initial weeks, Vicky admitted he still felt he could never have enough time with his son. He noted that fatherhood continues to surprise him with new feelings almost daily, as he navigates this new role. Vicky also shared his newfound understanding of why parents often remark on how quickly children grow up. "I understand now when others would say, 'Yaar, bacha kitna jaldi bada ho raha hai.' And I would think, 'What are you talking about? Your child is still a year old.' Now I get it," he reflected.
Even though Vihaan is just seven months old, Vicky has already formed ideas about the values he wishes to instill in his son. He believes that children learn more from observing their parents than from mere words. "It occurs to me at the most random moments that that is now my responsibility towards my son. He is going to learn by observing how his parents think, talk, and behave," Vicky explained, emphasizing his desire to lead by example.
Increased Appreciation for His Parents
Fatherhood has also enhanced Vicky's respect for his own parents and the sacrifices they made during his upbringing. Reflecting on his childhood, he expressed a deeper understanding of the lessons his parents imparted. "I understand so many things that they were right about," he noted. Vicky acknowledged that although his family faced financial challenges, his parents worked diligently to instill the right values in him, which he credits for shaping who he is today.
On the professional front, Vicky was last seen in the successful film Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar and featuring Rashmika Mandanna. He is currently engaged in shooting for the much-anticipated film Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which will see him reunite with Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
