Vicky Kaushal in Talks for Guru Dutt Biopic Role

Vicky Kaushal's Potential Role as Guru Dutt
Actor Vicky Kaushal may soon portray one of the most celebrated figures in Indian cinema, Guru Dutt. Reports suggest that he is currently in preliminary discussions to take on the role of the iconic filmmaker and actor in a forthcoming biopic. Guru Dutt is renowned for his masterpieces such as Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, and Kaushal is reportedly the leading candidate for this significant role.
The biopic is being produced by Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, which owns the rights to Guru Dutt's extensive film catalog. The company is also considering web adaptations of some of his classic works. Rajat Agrawal, the COO and Director of Ultra, confirmed these developments, stating, "Biopics present unique challenges as they must reflect an individual's greatness and accomplishments. We are eager to partner with producers and a contemporary director who is passionate about Guru Dutt to explore this project further."
Agrawal mentioned that discussions are ongoing with two esteemed directors regarding both a web series adaptation and a biopic about Dutt's life. He also noted that Dutt's family is actively involved in the project, saying, "I have spoken to two highly respected directors interested in transforming his films into web series and creating a film about his life. Once we finalize details, we will share more information. We are in contact with his family members."
When asked about the ideal actor for such a multifaceted role, Agrawal remarked, "It's challenging to pinpoint just one actor, but I believe Vicky Kaushal has the emotional range to embody Guru Dutt's depth."
In addition to this potential role, Kaushal is preparing for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's grand period drama, Love & War, alongside stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. However, production faced setbacks recently due to severe flooding in Mumbai, which damaged equipment and forced the postponement of a crucial outdoor scene.
