Veteran Actor Pradeep Rawat Passes Away at 74 After Cancer Battle

Mumbai, Aug 5: Veteran actor Pradeep Rawat, celebrated for his roles in films like 'Lagaan' and 'Ghajini', has passed away at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer. His onscreen son, Thakur Anoop Singh, expressed his condolences and shared how Rawat was a source of inspiration in facing life's challenges.
Thakur Anoop Singh posted a heartfelt message alongside a photo of them together from their work on the sets of 'Achari America Yatra' and 'Dharmarakshak Mahaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj'.
“Pradeep Rawat sir, it was a true honor to work alongside such a talented artist. From witnessing your portrayal of Ashwatthama in 1990 to seeing you in 'Ghajini', and then playing your son in 'Achari America Yatra' or your adversary in 'Dharmarakshak Chh. Sambhaji Maharaj', you have always been a beacon of light and motivation off-screen,” he wrote.
“Those who know you understand the incredible journey you had, and I will forever treasure our shared memories and lessons! You lived valiantly, now may you rest in peace. Thank you for your contributions to the world of entertainment. Om shanti,” he added.
Pradeep Rawat is survived by his wife and son, Vikramaditya. The news of his demise was confirmed by his longtime colleague, actor Yashpal Sharma.
Yashpal, who also starred in 'Lagaan', paid tribute to Rawat with an emotional post on social media, stating, “Pradeep Rawat, our Gajini Deva from 'Lagaan', may you rest in peace.”
Reflecting on his career, Pradeep Rawat had an impressive journey spanning over three decades, during which he acted in various languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
He made his acting debut in the Bollywood film 'Meri Jung' in 1985, portraying a police inspector.
His notable works include 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy', 'Stalin', 'Veeram', '1: Nenokkadine', 'Loukyam', 'Nenu Sailaja', 'Sarrainodu', 'Nene Raju Nene Mantri', 'Aayirathil Iruvar', 'Market Raja MBBS', and 'Miss Match'.
His final appearance was in the Hindi film 'Chhaava', an epic historical action movie based on the life of Sambhaji, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, played by Vicky Kaushal. The film is an adaptation of the Marathi novel 'Chhava' by Shivaji Sawant, featuring Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna in the cast.
