Vaazha 2's Impressive Box Office Journey

The Malayalam film Vaazha 2 is approaching the conclusion of its theatrical release, having amassed around Rs. 128 crore at the Indian box office. By the end of this week, it is projected to reach Rs. 127.75 crore, with an additional Rs. 1.50 crore expected to be added to its total. As it prepares to exit cinemas, the film is set to make its digital premiere on Jio Hotstar this weekend.

Vaazha 2, a coming-of-age comedy-drama featuring a fresh cast, had an outstanding performance in its initial four weeks, becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever in Kerala, surpassing the previous record held by Lokah Chapter One: Chandra. However, in its fifth week, the film encountered stiff competition from the Mammootty and Mohanlal starrer Patriot, leading to a significant drop in box office earnings.

Despite this decline, directed by Savin Da, the film has emerged as one of the most lucrative films of 2026, owing to its impressive box office performance. Produced on a modest budget of approximately Rs. 13 crore, Vaazha 2 has achieved over Rs. 250 crore in total global earnings during its run.

The box office performance of Vaazha 2 in Kerala is noteworthy: it earned Rs. 57.20 crore in its first week, followed by Rs. 42.55 crore in the second week, Rs. 18.35 crore in the third week, Rs. 8.15 crore in the fourth week, and an estimated Rs. 1.50 crore in its fifth week, culminating in a total of Rs. 127.75 crore.

Featuring Hashir, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy, and Vinayak in prominent roles, Vaazha 2 is helmed by Savin Sa, with the screenplay crafted by Vipin Das. Following the success of this installment, a third film in the franchise has already been announced, highlighting the series' enduring appeal among viewers.
