Trailer Launch of 'The Bengal Files'

Mumbai, August 16: The trailer for the highly anticipated film 'The Bengal Files' was revealed in Kolkata on Saturday, coinciding with the observance of Direct Action Day. This trailer showcases the distinctive style of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, known for his sensational storytelling, reminiscent of his previous works like 'The Kashmir Files', 'The Tashkent Files', and 'The Vaccine War'.

The narrative unfolds against the tumultuous backdrop of West Bengal's violent political history, drawing from real events and chilling testimonies to highlight the horrific Hindu genocide that has been largely overlooked by mainstream narratives.

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri expressed, "'The Bengal Files' serves as a wake-up call, a declaration that we refuse to allow Bengal to become another Kashmir. We chose to launch the trailer in Kolkata to ensure authenticity in depicting the untold story of Hindu genocide, and viewers will catch a glimpse of this in the trailer. The nation must brace itself… for if Kashmir has pained you, Bengal will haunt you."

The trailer captivates with striking visuals, poignant silences, and heart-wrenching dialogues, illuminating decades of communal strife, systemic silence, and ideological manipulation. The film features National Award-winning actress Pallavi Joshi, the legendary Mithun Chakraborty, and a talented ensemble cast that brings to life a narrative many have attempted to erase.

Pallavi Joshi, who is also a producer, stated, "This film reveals another facet of reality that society needs to confront. The trailer of 'The Bengal Files' aims to draw the audience closer to the haunting truths depicted in the film. Each performance is rooted in profound authenticity, enhancing the story's impact. It’s a powerful cinematic experience with a mission to unveil a truth that has long been forgotten. I hope the trailer garners the same affection and support as our teaser did."

August 16, 2025, marks the 79th anniversary of Direct Action Day, a pivotal moment when the All-India Muslim League initiated a "direct action" campaign through general strikes and economic shutdowns to advocate for a separate Muslim homeland following the British departure from India.

Mithun Chakraborty remarked, "'The Bengal Files' is everything the audience never anticipated. For me, this embodies the essence of cinema—making a difference and showcasing what needs to be seen. I assure you, I represent all of you. This character has always bridged the gap between us, and it will do the same for you."

'The Bengal Files' is both written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, with production credits going to Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. The cast also includes Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumar.

Presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha, the film will be distributed worldwide by Zee Studios, hitting theaters on September 5, 2025.
