Exploring the Life of the King of Pop
The biopic titled 'Michael' takes viewers on a journey through the life of the iconic Michael Jackson, showcasing everything from his family roots to his early career and even his cherished pet monkey. The film features pivotal moments, including the restaurant where Jackson first crossed paths with his private chef, Akasha Richmond. At a recent screening, Richmond expressed her joy at seeing the restaurant highlighted, evoking fond memories of her time with the King of Pop.
Richmond was present at the premiere of 'Michael' held at the TCL Chinese Theatre last month, where she was pleasantly surprised by the film's portrayal of events. In a conversation with a media outlet, she shared that she attended the premiere alongside another chef from the restaurant. A particularly striking scene depicted Jackson shooting a commercial, which culminated in a dramatic moment when his hair caught fire, requiring a hospital visit. Richmond recalled a scene where the character representing Bill Bray, Jackson's head of security, presented a platter of food, exclaiming, “Hey, we brought you all your favorites from the Golden Temple.”
Richmond expressed her excitement about the restaurant's mention in the film, stating, “So, our restaurant got a shout out. We were excited,” emphasizing her pride in the recognition. The film not only rekindled memories but also celebrated Jackson's enduring legacy, resonating deeply with the audience during the screening.
When asked for her thoughts on the biopic, Richmond was brimming with enthusiasm. She described the film as “great” and noted the electrifying atmosphere among fans at the event. “People were screaming. The fans were going nuts in the audience,” she recalled. Richmond praised the performances, especially that of young actor Juliano Krue Valdi, who portrayed a young Michael, and commended the film's music and narrative, which highlighted Jackson's artistic journey.
Richmond's connection to Jackson dates back to her time at The Golden Temple, the restaurant where they first met. Although the restaurant has since closed, it remains a treasured part of her memories. After their initial encounter, she was employed by Jackson to accompany him on various tours, including the legendary ‘Bad Tour’ from 1987 to 1989 and the ‘HIStory World Tour’ from 1996 to 1997, solidifying her significant role in his life and career.
