The horror film Tumbbad, featuring Sohum Shah, made waves in 2018, earning acclaim as one of the finest horror movies in Indian cinema. Following its success, fans have been eagerly anticipating a sequel. Recently, the creators teased viewers with a captivating motion poster, hinting at Tumbbad 2. Now, Sohum Shah has officially confirmed the release date for the sequel, which is set for 2027, not 2026 as some speculated.

Tumbbad 2 Release Date Announced

On his Instagram, Sohum Shah shared a new poster for Tumbbad 2, revealing that the film will premiere on December 3, 2027. In his post, he wrote, “A sinful past, an ominous future. The hunger rises, the legacy of greed continues...” He also included the hashtag #PralayAayega. The sequel promises to be even more intense, as the first film established a unique niche for folklore horror in Indian cinema. With Tumbbad 2, the creators aim to expand the narrative while maintaining the essence that made the original so captivating.

Sohum Shah expressed his enthusiasm for the sequel, describing Tumbbad as 'special' to him. He emphasized that the goal of Tumbbad 2 is to delve deeper into its world, exploring new dimensions while remaining true to the mythology and atmosphere that resonated with audiences.

About Tumbbad 2

For those unfamiliar, the original Tumbbad was directed by Rahi Anil Barve, who will not return for the sequel. Instead, Adesh Prasad will take the helm for Tumbbad 2. The film is produced by Sohum Shah under his production company, Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios, led by Dr. Jayantilal Gada. Notably, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will play a significant role in the film.
