Triptii Dimri Steps In for Deepika Padukone

Fans of Deepika Padukone and Prabhas were thrilled by their performances in 'Kalki 2898 AD' and were eager to see them collaborate again. However, it was recently reported that Deepika would not be part of Prabhas's upcoming film 'Spirit', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, due to alleged 'unprofessional demands'.

The filmmakers have now confirmed that Triptii Dimri will take on the female lead role. Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating, 'The female lead for my film is now official :-)'. Triptii expressed her gratitude on Instagram, saying, 'Still sinking in…. So grateful to be trusted with this journey. Thank you @sandeepreddy.vanga ..honoured to be a part of your vision.'

Social media users have been buzzing with comments, with one saying, 'Welcome to RebelWood', while another exclaimed, 'I’m screaming!' and yet another remarked, 'Unexpected but Perfect'.

Initially, Deepika was confirmed for the lead role, but reports from various Telugu media outlets suggested that she requested an eight-hour workday, a substantial fee, and a share of the film's profits. Additionally, she reportedly declined to perform her dialogues in Telugu, which led to frustration for the filmmaker, prompting him to seek a different actress.

'Spirit' is anticipated to begin filming in September or October 2025. A source mentioned, 'With Vanga, you can expect a genre-breaking film. He has spent over six months developing the story into a screenplay. The casting process has been ongoing, and with most elements now in place, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is ready to start filming 'Spirit' with Prabhas in September/October 2025.'
