Renowned filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani passed away on Thursday, June 4, at Nanavati Hospital located in Mumbai's Juhu area. He was 76 years old and had been suffering from liver cirrhosis, ultimately succumbing to complications from the illness. In honor of his significant impact on the Indian film industry, numerous Bollywood stars expressed their condolences to his family. His funeral took place in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon, attended by notable figures such as Govinda, Varun Dhawan, Farhan Akhtar, and Malaika Arora.

It is lesser-known that Pahlaj Nihalani was instrumental in launching Govinda's career in the Hindi film industry, debuting him in the 1986 film Ilzaam. Their successful collaboration led to a close bond that extended beyond professional ties. A visibly emotional Govinda was present at the funeral, where he shared his thoughts with reporters. He remarked, "Pahlaj Nihalani ji was a cornerstone for many of us. Numerous artists, including myself, who emerged from challenging financial backgrounds, received his unwavering support and encouragement." He emphasized that many artists owe their careers to Nihalani's keen eye for talent and ability to uplift others. "This was a divine gift bestowed upon him. On behalf of the entire Sindhi community, I pay my respects and pray for his soul's peace," added the Hero No 1 actor.
