The highly anticipated Bollywood film Love And War, featuring stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, has recently been marred by a tragic event. A crew member lost his life due to an electric shock while working on the set. The incident occurred on June 17 at Royal Pump Studio in Goregaon East, Mumbai, where 42-year-old carpenter Chandradhari Yadav was fatally injured. This unfortunate event has ignited discussions about the need for improved safety protocols within the industry. In response, the production company led by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has reportedly offered financial assistance to Yadav's family.

The tragic accident on the set of Love And War has raised significant concerns regarding worker safety in the film sector. Reports indicate that Yadav suffered an electric shock, possibly due to a short circuit, around 3 am. Union representatives from the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union (FSSAMU) have stated that the precise cause of death is still under investigation, pending a post-mortem report. Yadav leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
Compensation and Safety Measures
Sanjay Leela Bhansali Pays Deceased Worker's Family
Following the incident, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and FSSAMU reached out to the film's producers for financial support for Yadav's family. Reports suggest that the production house has offered Rs 40 lakh as compensation. FWICE president BN Tiwari emphasized the need for the producers to also ensure educational support for the deceased's children. He noted that workers often face extended hours, which can severely impact their health. Tiwari mentioned that unions will determine their next steps after the post-mortem results are available, stressing that worker safety must always be prioritized, irrespective of a film's budget or producer.
Additionally, FWICE honorary general secretary Ashok Dubey revealed that Yadav had been working continuously for three days prior to the incident, with a shift lasting from 7 am to 3 am on the day of the tragedy. After suffering the electric shock, he was taken to a hospital but unfortunately did not survive. The federation has also requested a job for Yadav's wife within the production company. IFTDA president and FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit underscored the importance of regular safety inspections on film sets, advocating for stringent safety regulations and standard operating procedures to safeguard workers' lives.
