The individual, identified as Karthikeyan, reportedly suffered a fatal electric shock while assisting in the construction of a house-like set at a private studio located in Pannaiyur. According to local police, the tragedy unfolded at Adityaram Film City on East Coast Road, where filming was still in progress despite the main schedule being completed. This unfortunate event has cast a pall over the production, which is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures. An investigation has been initiated by the police.

Reports indicate that Karthikeyan, an electrician hailing from Salem, was part of the film's crew. The incident took place at a private studio on East Coast Road, where filming was ongoing. Karthikeyan was involved in art direction and electrical tasks while helping to set up the film's set. During this process, he reportedly encountered an electrical leak, leading to a severe electric shock. Fellow crew members quickly attempted to assist him and transport him to a hospital, but he unfortunately did not survive.
The atmosphere among the cast and crew of Jailer 2 has turned somber following this incident. Officials from the Kanathur Police Station have commenced an investigation to ascertain whether all necessary safety measures and electrical protocols were adhered to on set. Although an FIR was not filed immediately, inquiries are ongoing to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident. The sequel will also feature cameo appearances by Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal. The cast has expanded to include actors such as Jatin Sarna, Mithun Chakraborty, Santhanam, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijay Sethupathi, Meghana Raj Sarja, and Anna Rajan. There are also rumors that Nora Fatehi may perform in a special dance sequence. While the plot details remain closely guarded, the film is being produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. Anirudh Ravichander is returning as the music composer, with cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R Nirmal also involved in the project.
