T.O.P. Releases His First Solo Album

Choi Seung-hyun, popularly known as T.O.P., unveiled his debut solo album titled Another Dimension on April 3. This album features 11 tracks, including the lead singles DESPERADO and Studio54, which have already attracted significant attention. The Squid Game actor has received enthusiastic support from his former BIGBANG bandmates, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, who shared his latest social media update, celebrating his new venture. T.O.P. parted ways with BIGBANG in 2023 following a drug-related controversy. He made his return to the entertainment scene in 2024 with a role in Netflix's Squid Game Season 2, portraying one of the antagonists, Thanos.

On Instagram, the remaining members of BIGBANG expressed their support for T.O.P. by sharing his post featuring the album cover of Another Dimension, designed by renowned artist Ed Ruscha. Although T.O.P. has not publicly acknowledged their support, it highlights the camaraderie among the group.

In his new album, T.O.P. reflects on his departure from the group. In the track Ovaya, he sings, "It's beautiful when we all go our separate ways," while another line expresses his feelings about the past. The song Studio54 directly references BIGBANG, with T.O.P. stating, "I'm so sorry but I loved the BIGBANG of my twenties, say less." He has been open about his journey in music since leaving the group, emphasizing that Another Dimension represents a new chapter in his life.

T.O.P. first entered the music scene in 2006 as a member of BIGBANG, a K-pop group that included Taeyang, G-Dragon, Daesung, and Seungri. The group is regarded as one of South Korea's most influential musical acts. Seungri left the group following a scandal, and T.O.P. departed in 2023 after facing legal issues related to marijuana use during his military service.

Later this month, BIGBANG members Taeyang, G-Dragon, and Daesung are scheduled to perform at Coachella, marking their 20th anniversary with plans for a global tour and a major comeback in 2026.
