The Anticipation for a Third Film

After a long wait of twenty years, the beloved cast of The Devil Wears Prada (2006) has reunited for a sequel, now showing in theaters globally. During promotional discussions, the core cast, along with director David Frankel, shared their thoughts on the possibility of a third installment and how soon they might come together again.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast on third film in franchise

In a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, Hathaway, Streep, Tucci, and Blunt expressed enthusiasm for returning for another film in The Devil Wears Prada series. Streep humorously noted that she would prefer not to wait another two decades for the next installment, while Tucci quipped that they might need to dig up the actors if they delay too long.

Blunt, who reprises her role as Emily Charlton, suggested that a significant gap between films could be beneficial. If a third film materializes, she hopes for more collaborative scenes with Tucci's character, Nigel. Interestingly, in real life, Blunt and Tucci are related by marriage, as he wed her sister Felicity in 2012. Hathaway took a more pragmatic approach, indicating that the sequel's box office performance would likely determine the feasibility of a third film. She expressed a desire to revisit the characters, believing there are still stories to tell. Frankel, the director, provided an optimistic update, stating that the characters have potential for further development beyond this sequel.

Frankel reflected on how the cast had previously declined a sequel two decades ago, yet here they are with a new film in theaters. While he refrained from confirming a third film, he acknowledged that the characters could continue to evolve.
