Censorship Details
Jana Nayagan Censored
In recent updates, Jana Nayagan has been granted an A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after its initial release on January 9 was delayed. The final version of the film has undergone 12 cuts, including the removal of two profanity-laden words. Vijay, now serving as the CM of Tamil Nadu under the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party, had to modify certain dialogues. The censor board required the removal of the term TVK, which is part of Vijay's character name, Thalapathy Vetri Kondan. A specific dialogue at the 110:23-minute mark was altered to exclude 'Ambedkar sattam... to... TVK sattam' without changing the runtime.
The film was approved for release after the producers agreed to eliminate visuals depicting the Indian flag touching the ground. The CBFC also mandated the muting of terms like 'Bhagavatham,' 'Ranganathar,' and other inappropriate words, along with the removal of a reference to New India. Additionally, a scene involving a child being burned was cut, and the character name 'Sheela Rani' was altered.
