The film has encountered several challenges, initially slated for a Pongal 2026 release on January 9, 2026. It faced delays with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which did not approve its release. Additionally, clips and the full feature were leaked online, causing significant issues for the producers. The Madras High Court has since issued an injunction prohibiting illegal screenings of Jana Nayagan until June 2, 2026.
