Her comments were misattributed to his political aspirations and personal issues. She further explained that her original statement was meant to highlight the ability to separate personal matters from political involvement, especially during an election period.
Ramakrishnan also pointed out that if the focus is genuinely on women's rights, there are numerous women facing abuse and injustice who lack legal support, financial stability, or even basic necessities. Sangeetha Sornalingam initiated divorce proceedings against Thalapathy Vijay at the Chengalpattu Women’s Court on February 27, after being married for 26 years. The court accepted her petition and referred the case to the Family Welfare Committee. In her filing, she cited emotional neglect and cruelty, alleging that Vijay had engaged in an extramarital affair, which led her to seek the dissolution of their marriage.
Following this, she requested an interim order to remain in their matrimonial home, stating that she had been a devoted wife, managing the household and caring for their children, Jason Sanjay and Dhivya Sasha. Vijay, on his part, has expressed that he intends to manage his personal issues privately and has urged his supporters to concentrate on public matters, assuring them that there is no reason for concern.
