Background on Sundar C's Departure
Initially, Sundar C was set to direct Thalaivar 173 but later withdrew, citing unforeseen circumstances. His last successful collaboration was with Arunachalam in 1997. Following his exit, Cibi Chakravarthy, known for the hit film Don, was appointed as the new director. While details about the cast and storyline remain under wraps, there are rumors that Sai Pallavi and Kathir are in preliminary discussions to join the project. An official announcement is still pending. Meanwhile, Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the film's music.
Rajinikanth, who recently appeared in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, is currently engaged in the sequel Jailer 2, following the success of his 2023 film with Nelson Dilipkumar. Kamal Haasan, on the other hand, was last seen in Mani Ratnam's Thug Life and is working on the directorial debut of the stunt coordination duo Anbariv, titled KH 237.
