Tamil Nadu CM's Landmark Decision: Five Daily Shows for New Tamil Films
A Game-Changing Move for Tamil Cinema
Joseph Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, who has transitioned from acting to politics, has made a significant announcement for cinema owners in Tamil Nadu. He has authorized theatre operators to screen five shows daily for new Tamil films during the first week of their release. This decision marks a pivotal moment in Kollywood, as producers previously needed special permissions from authorities to schedule additional shows. The Chief Minister's directive aims to enhance box office performance and is likely to be welcomed by film producers.
Vijay's Impact on Tamil Film Industry
As per the new regulations set forth by CM Vijay, newly released Tamil films can now have five scheduled screenings each day for the first seven days post-release. Additionally, five shows can be arranged on weekends, festive occasions, and public holidays. This new policy eliminates the need for prior approval from authorities for extra screenings, which was a requirement before. Previously, producers had to seek permission from the Chennai police commissioner and other officials for any additional showings. With this new rule, filmmakers can now freely schedule extra shows.
This initiative is being celebrated by Tamil cinema enthusiasts, who will now have more opportunities to watch new releases in theatres. Fans and industry insiders have taken to social media to express their support for Vijay's decision. Previously, he had permitted a 9 am screening for the film Karuppu, featuring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, shortly after assuming office. Now, this rule applies to all upcoming Tamil films.
