After nearly three weeks in theaters, Suriya's blockbuster film Karuppu is beginning to show signs of a slowdown at the box office. Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy film experienced a drop in earnings on its 20th day of release. Although it continues to draw audiences, particularly in Tamil Nadu, its daily revenue has seen a slight decrease compared to earlier weeks. Nevertheless, Karuppu remains one of the top Tamil films of the year, surpassing the box office performance of several other releases. The film also features Trisha Krishnan and stands as RJ Balaji's most successful project to date.
Box Office Update: Day 20 Collections for Karuppu
As per estimates from Sacnilk, Karuppu earned Rs 1.55 crore net in India on its 20th day, reflecting a 24.4% decline from the previous day's earnings of Rs 2.05 crore. This brings the film's total net collection in India to Rs 188.45 crore, while its gross collection has reached Rs 217.87 crore. Additionally, the film garnered Rs 50 lakh from international markets on Day 20, raising its overseas gross to Rs 79.25 crore. Overall, Karuppu's worldwide gross now stands at Rs 297.12 crore.
Among the various language versions, the Tamil edition has been the most significant contributor to the film's earnings, generating Rs 1.25 crore on Day 20. The Telugu version added Rs 30 lakh, with the Tamil version achieving an overall occupancy rate of 15.15%, peaking at 17.23% during night screenings.

Recently, RJ Balaji shared moments from his meeting with Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister and actor Vijay. On his social media profile, he expressed how surreal it was to meet Vijay in his current capacity as Chief Minister, noting that the warmth and kindness he remembered from their past interactions remained unchanged. RJ Balaji also expressed gratitude to Vijay for his support during the making of Karuppu. This meeting comes shortly after RJ Balaji disclosed that Vijay was initially considered for the lead role in the film. The storyline revolves around Vettai Karuppu, a revered guardian deity who takes on the persona of a lawyer to combat corruption and seek justice. The cast includes Suriya, Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Anagha Maya Ravi, and Natty Subramaniam in key roles.
