In response to the film's phenomenal reception, Suriya shared that the decision to take on Karuppu was made in just 30 to 45 minutes nearly two years ago, a rarity in his career. While he hoped for the film's success, he admitted he never anticipated such a massive reaction, stating, "I wished for this, but it became an unexpectedly huge success. I haven’t seen this kind of reaction in recent times." During the discussion, he credited much of the film's success to director RJ Balaji, expressing his trust in the filmmaker's vision from their initial conversation about the project. Suriya noted that everything progressed smoothly once RJ Balaji took the helm of the film.
According to reports, by Day 9, Karuppu, featuring Trisha Krishnan, continues to dominate the box office with 3,727 shows currently running across India. The film has reportedly garnered an estimated Rs 7.11 crore net through live collections today (May 23), bringing its total gross in India to Rs 149.25 crore. The domestic net collection has reached Rs 128.76 crore, with expectations for further growth as more updates come in.
