Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna are back together in the Netflix courtroom drama, Ikka, much to the delight of their fans. The duo, known for their memorable roles in the classic film Border, has recently enjoyed significant success with their respective films, Gadar 2 and Dhurandhar, which have broken box office records. During the trailer launch of Ikka, Sunny expressed his admiration for Akshaye, acknowledging the impressive success of Dhurandhar and stating that he truly deserves all the accolades.

At the Ikka trailer launch, when asked about Akshaye Khanna, Sunny Deol emphasized that his co-star is worthy of all the success he is currently experiencing. Reflecting on Dhurandhar, he remarked, "It was about time. As I always say, time is unpredictable, so one must keep working and never lose hope. Akshaye has done just that, and now that his moment has arrived, he is soaring high, and he deserves every bit of it and even more."



Sunny fondly recalled their collaboration on Border, stating, "I am thrilled for him because we both worked on Border together, which was our first project. We developed a wonderful rapport during that time, especially since he is Vinodji's son."


Plans for Damini 2 and Ikka's Unique Story

In a media interaction, Sunny also shared his aspirations to create a sequel to Damini, although those plans did not come to fruition. He mentioned, "I hadn't had the opportunity to engage in courtroom drama since Damini, and we genuinely wanted to produce Damini 2, but it didn't happen. Then Ikka came along."


In Ikka, directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Sunny Deol returns to the role of a lawyer. He described the Netflix film as "a narrative centered around family, relationships, and the tough decisions life compels us to make." He added, "Ikka is particularly special as it marks my first direct-to-streaming release. I’m excited that audiences across India and globally will have the chance to experience Ikka through Netflix."


Ikka is set to premiere on Netflix on July 10 and will be Sunny Deol's second release of 2026, following Border 2. After Ikka, he will portray Lord Hanuman in the highly anticipated mythological epic Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, which is scheduled for a Diwali release.
