Mumbai, Nov 4: Sunil Lahri, renowned for his portrayal of Lakshman in the iconic series ‘Ramayan’, has shared his positive outlook on the forthcoming film ‘Ramayana’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor. Despite the rising skepticism surrounding the film's casting, visual effects, and soundtrack, Lahri remains optimistic about its potential success.
On Tuesday, he posted a video on his X account, previously known as Twitter, where he expressed his thoughts directly to his followers.
He remarked, “The ‘Ramayana’ directed by Nitesh Tiwari is set to be unveiled to audiences shortly. Many have suggested that I share my perspective on this film, perhaps because I was once part of the ‘Ramayana’. The past and present are different. I haven’t viewed the film yet, and I don’t consider myself a researcher or an expert on this subject. How could I critique such an epic? I can confidently say it is a monumental tale, significant not only for Indians but for humanity as a whole.”
However, he did express some disappointment regarding the film's music, which he felt fell short of expectations, despite the collaboration of two renowned composers, A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
He elaborated, “This story encompasses culture, values, emotions, and beliefs. We must cherish this heritage. I have unwavering faith in Nitesh ji as a director; he has previously delivered remarkable films. The cast and crew have worked diligently to create something special. Music is crucial in this epic narrative; it serves as its backbone. Some of the sounds in the songs I’ve heard have not met my expectations. I believe the local essence, whether from Mithla or Ayodhya, should resonate in the music.”
“While I’m not an expert, as an attentive listener, these are my reflections. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the film's cast and crew and pray for its success. This film has a significant budget, and its triumph is vital as it impacts many livelihoods. Jai Shri Ram,” he concluded.
