Youth Disaster Mitra Training Program Wraps Up

The week-long Youth Disaster Mitra Training program concluded successfully today at the Youth Hostel in Dalhousie.


The closing event featured DSP Dalhousie, Mayank Sharma, as the chief guest. He recognized the newly trained Disaster Mitras and discussed the dangers of drug abuse, the significance of disaster management, and the essential role these trained individuals will play as first responders in emergencies. He highlighted that Disaster Mitras will help raise awareness in the community and offer immediate support during crises.


Among the special guests were Sumit Gupta from DDMA Chamba and Devendra Sharma, the Manager of Youth Hostel Dalhousie, who shared motivational insights on the importance of disaster management and described the training as crucial for the comprehensive development of youth.


Bhargav from the District Emergency Operations Center Chamba provided valuable information on technical procedures and ground-level response strategies during disasters.


Throughout the training, participants acquired essential skills, including:



  • First aid techniques

  • Search and rescue operations

  • Fire-fighting methods

  • Maintaining mental balance during emergencies

  • Communication systems

  • Community-based disaster management


A total of 55 participants from Degree College Chamba and Degree College Chuwari engaged in the program.


The ceremony concluded with all dignitaries wishing the trained Disaster Mitras success in their future contributions to society and the district.
