Who is Priya Saroj?

Priya Saroj, a 26-year-old politician and lawyer, currently serves as the MP for the Machhlishahr constituency. She is the daughter of Tufani Saroj, a three-time MP and current MLA from Kerakat. Priya made her political debut representing the Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, in the 2024 general elections. Born on November 23, 1998, in Varanasi, she completed her schooling at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Delhi University and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Amity University, Noida.


After graduating, she pursued a career in law at the Supreme Court of India. Despite her initial aspiration to become a judge, Priya chose to enter politics. In the recent elections, she contested from Machhlishahr, a seat previously held by her father, and won by a margin of 35,850 votes against BJP's BP Saroj. During her campaign, she focused on issues such as youth employment and women's empowerment.
