Recently, he shared updates on the film's progress, indicating that it is nearing completion, much to the excitement of fans.

During his appearance at the Annecy Animation Festival, Rajamouli discussed the nearing completion of Varanasi. He mentioned that the majority of the significant action sequences have been filmed, and the team is now working on connecting scenes. He expressed optimism that filming could wrap up by September, with a possibility of extending into October. Rajamouli stated, “Maybe a little bit into October, we should be finishing shooting.”

Rajamouli also addressed the IMAX filming process, clarifying that it did not hinder his creative vision. He emphasized that the sequences were designed to fit the IMAX format, requiring only minor adjustments. He noted, “the anamorphic framing, so that took a little bit of adjustment for the first few initial days,” but they adapted quickly. He expressed enthusiasm about IMAX theaters reopening in Hyderabad just in time for Varanasi, highlighting the city's passion for cinema.

In addition to Varanasi, Rajamouli is also involved in expanding the Baahubali franchise into animation with The Eternal War. Directed by Ishan Shukla, Rajamouli initially contributed to the project before stepping back once Shukla grasped the vision.
