Mammootty’s sister Ameena dies at the age of 70

Mammootty's sister Amina has passed away at the age of 70. His funeral will take place tomorrow, September 13. Reportedly, Amina was under treatment for quite some time. Earlier this year, in April to be exact, Mammootty's mother, Fatima Ismail, passed away at the age of 93.

Amina was married to late PM Salim. She is survived by her children Jibin Salim, Julie and Jubi. Amina is the youngest sister of Mammootty. Ibrahim Kutty, Zakaria Panaparambil, Sauda and Shafina are Amina's other siblings.

Mammootty, Amina and their siblings reportedly grew up in Champu near Vaikom. 2023 has certainly been a tough year for Mammootty and his entire family, as in April of the same year, the actor's mother passed away. His mother, Fatima Ismail, was undergoing treatment for health-related issues and breathed her last at a private hospital.

Colleagues and fans of the Puzu actor have taken to their social media handles to mourn Amina's loss. It has been a tough year for Mammootty on the personal front, but on the contrary, he has been soaring in his professional career. The actor won his second Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Lijo Jose Pellissery's Naanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. But he did not attend any celebrations after winning his award, and it is reported that Mammootty took the decision due to the death of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
