Karuppu's Box Office Collection on Day 17: The film featuring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan has emerged as a significant box office success. Karuppu Breaks Records of Varisu and Ponniyin Selvan 2

As per preliminary estimates from Sacnilk, Karuppu has earned Rs 5.90 crore on its 17th day, bringing its total to an impressive Rs 182.45 crore. In comparison, Varisu accumulated Rs 178.14 crore at the domestic box office. This action drama, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, was released on January 11, 2023, and featured Rashmika Mandanna and R Sarathkumar among others.

On the other hand, Ponniyin Selvan 2 garnered Rs 181.96 crore in India. Directed by Mani Ratnam, this historical action film was a sequel to the 2022 release Ponniyin Selvan, featuring Trisha as Kundavai and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini. It hit theaters on April 28, 2023. Currently, Karuppu is approaching the Rs 200 crore milestone in India, with a global collection of Rs 289.24 crore. It is anticipated to soon cross the Rs 300 crore mark. The film also stars RJ Balaji and Indrans in significant roles.

RJ Balaji Reflects on Karuppu's Success

In a recent interview with a media outlet, RJ Balaji discussed the film's box office triumph. Released on May 15 after facing several challenges, he expressed his happiness with the film's performance. He remarked that the success feels particularly rewarding after the prolonged wait of nearly 33 months. "The outcome is even sweeter given the hurdles we faced," he stated.
