Recently, in an interview with podcast channel Armchair Expert, Priyanka Chopra corrected RRR when it was called a 'Bollywood movie'. She said that RRR is a 'Tamil film'. So, when Dax Shepard compared Bollywood to Hollywood in the 50s, when a few stars and big studios controlled everything, Priyanka agreed and said, “Bollywood has evolved so incredibly. You have big mainstream action and a love story and dancing…” When Dex interrupted her with “RRR…”, Priyanka quickly corrected, “This is a Tamil film.” And it's not a one time thing, she called it a Tamil movie many times. She added, "It's like a big, mega, blockbuster Tamil that does it all... It's like our Avengers."

RRR is a Telugu film
SS Rajamouli's RRR has created history in Indian cinema for its prestigious wins with prestigious international awards like Oscars, Golden Globes, HCA and more. But if RRR is a Telugu film, a Tamil film, a South film or an Indian film, it has always been a matter of debate. Originally, RRR is a Telugu film and was also dubbed into other languages like Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and Japanese.

When Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel called RRR a Bollywood movie on stage because it won an Academy Award for the song Natu Natu, actress Jaya Bachchan objected to calling it a South movie. Now Priyanka Chopra has called it a Tamil film. Fans are angry with the actress for calling RRR a Tamil film as they did not expect that from her.
Priyanka Chopra and RRR association
For the uninitiated, Priyanka has been closely associated with RRR ever since SS Rajamouli's team started campaigning for the Oscars. She attended the screening of the film in the US and gave a shout-out by sharing a picture with director SS Rajamouli and MM Kirwani. After that, she hosted a pre-Oscar party to celebrate Oscar nominees from the South Asian community and was attended by the entire RRR team. Priyanka also hosted Ram Charan and his wife Upasana at her residence in Los Angeles.
